Procedures Entering and Completing the Program

State prosecutors (DAs) determine eligibility for the Drivers’ Compliance Program (DCP) and refer cases to the Partners for Progress DCP Coordinator. If you want to enter the program and have not been referred, you or your defense attorney should contact the Palmer District Attorney’s office and speak to the prosecutor for your case.

To obtain a license, the offender must satisfy all the requirements of the Division of Motor Vehicles.  Instead of going through the normal prosecution process, eligible defendants who choose to participate in the program are given a continued arraignment date.  Then the DCP Coordinator, working with the district attorney’s office, guides them through the steps necessary to obtain a license in their particular case, including, as necessary, work with bureaucracies in other states.  If the defendants meet all requirements within the diversion period, obtain a license and pay the administrative fee, the case is dismissed and there is no conviction on their record, and no fine for the criminal case.
